Thoughts about exhaust plan

Ok so in a few weeks im going to be getting some sort of y pipe, and straight after the y pipe before the cat, im going to put an electric exhaust cutoff. I want this because i want an almost stock sound for cruising, and with a flick of a switch, a race car sound and extra power for whenever i go to the track, or if i get into something at a stop light. I don't know if this will actually be of any benefit for a nearly stock N/A 5spd max though. Im just gonna get a a nice looking 3.5" exhaust tip welded on my stock muffler BTW.

I just want some thoughts from EXPERIENCED people about my plan.

you ever heard a maxima without a catback before? Doesnt sounds too great. performance benefits probably wont be amazing either.

If you drag race, I would do it, it will be very loud and annoying that way but I have seen people drag race with similar open y configuations.

the aftermarket y pipe is the noise maker. all y pipes now are unequal legth and make the exhaust note terrible. the stock y, headers or and equal legth y will sound great with any exhuast.

The reason why I don't want to just get a catback and call it a day is because I had a catback on my old max, and it was annoying me sometimes when I just want to cruise in quiet and peace.

I'm pretty set on the electric cutoff idea, I just wanted some opinions on it. Power wise, IIRC I30Krab made an extra 19.x hp with the cutoff, and he had it go through a glasspack, and i think it was after the Cat too. Only thing is that he's boosted, and I'm not. He benefits from reducing backpressure, but its questionable on an N/A application.

The Y pipe is what im really not sure about. I definatly need to replace mine because of the 2 pre-cats on it. Thats such a simple 15whp just waiting to come out. I know that aftermarket exhausts with a Y generally sound sh!tty(with a few exceptions), but i really doubt that my car is going to sound bad with an open Y since there isnt anything blocking the exhaust flow beyond that point.

Another alternative that I'm really considering is the OBX/Ebay headers. Getting these would be purely for the sound since i know they don't yield much(if any) power over stock headers. The reason I'm considering them is because people say they sound really nice. I know they're not equal length, nor do they have good flowing bends, but they obviously sound better than stock, judging from what people on this site say.

I just wanna have the ability to go from a quiet car and a great sounding ground shaking car in a couple seconds. I also want to have something unique that nobody on the ORG has besides I30Krab, but his is slightly different.

I said WITHOUT a catback as in not there. An exhaust cutout will basically be like running straight out of the ypipe.
