no, you didn't mess anything up

This is the EXACT reason your engine shut down, so don't worry about it, and next time shift between 6000-6200.

Don't sweat it at all , I have hit my rev limeter a million times. The rev limeter is there because that is as high as the car should run on a regular basis "safely". If you want to screw your car up then go about 95 MPH and put your car into second, now that was a lot fun{It really sucked!}. You should know that the JWT ecu mod bumps the rev limeter up to 7000 Rpm's and that has proven to be safe. So don't even think about it becasue you did not even abuse the car in any way, it is 100% safe to bounce of the rev limeter every now and then.

Hey emax, I heard what happened to your car about, what, a month ago? Well last weekend, I had some damn saturn tailing me, so i downshifted to 3rd, took it up to 95mph, and came down trying to go into 4th, but i had a damn drink in the cupholder, missed 4th and went into 2nd! The tach jumped and pinned on 8k! I thought I blew up my engine. But no problems yet. Shouldn't have even wasted my time with the saturn Hey, I though my rev limiter would have saved me? It didnt.

You CAN overpower the limiter if you really peg it right, the engine simply can't slow down fast enough.

The rev limeter just cuts of fuel to the engine.

Bmxsteve, lucky for you you werent running 8 lb's of boost . Your car should be fine if nothing's happened since the incedent, just don't let it happen again. My car's fine now I just blew my Clutch to pieces.
