Has anyone put a new rear view mirrow w/temp & compass on??

Has this been done before or is it even possible?? I was trying to look at a few pics of some I30's and some newer Max's but no one ever posts pics of the rear view mirror. I am really missing the outside temp guage that I had on my Lexus and was wondering if any Max's or I30's even had that or could possibly add that as a mod.

If not, would it be hard to swap one out from an Acura or Honda?? I know some of those have the compass/thermometer in the rearview.

Thanks.

It's possible... you just have to get creative with tapping into power and mount an ambient temp sensor somewhere in the engine bay...

I know I've seen it done before, lemme try and find some pics... I believe the mirror was taken from a newer altima and swapped in

:edit:
Sorry no pics of the altima mirror swap but here a few other threads involving mirror swaps:

here's a few links to threads where they've used a Gentex mirror and temp sensor

and a link to an old thread where the mirror was swapped in a 2000 max (pics no longer working)

i've installed an i30 autodimming mirror. for the outside temp, if you've got automatic climate control, you can install a 99 ACC unit which has a button for temp or you can hack apart yours.

Cool, thanks. After I posted I used the google search for the ORG forums and came accross the one write up with links to the pics. It seems like a TON of work so I might wait until the summer if I do it at all. Not sure why I thought it would be an easy mod. Anyway, if I decide to do it, I'll probably buy one of the GENTEX mirrors off eBay or something. I'll also use funlovinmaxima's write up for a reference as well. Thanks for the feedback and the links!!

It is an easy mod. Can be fully installed and wired in one evening easily. I put one in my camaro years ago. Ptatohed put the same mirror I have in his Maxima pretty recently. PM us if you have any questions.

So since I have a 99 and the AMB button, it would be easier for me to set this up in my car?
