As the title says, I understand that it is possible, and I need some device that is roughly $50.00 ??

Can someone link me to where I can purchase this?

Also, any recomendations as to what kit I should buy to do all of this, the head unit I half is the standard size, so its obviously much smaller than where my CD player is now.

is there some cool thing I could do with the unused space that will be under or above where I put my CD Player?

My car is a 95 Maxima GXE (Bose system).

Here is the after market head unit I have: http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-JVC_KD_LX111

Thanks!!!
Josh

You need to start reading the stickies. All your questions have been answered there.

In this forum and the audio/electronics forum.

Well I read the FAQ and it mentioned a soundgate, but it recommends just replacing everything, I don't exactly have the money to reaplce everything, but I do have that head unit...

So I was posting to see if people had done it (since the FAQ recommends not to), I did check the FAQ

My brother and I did it with a Scosche adapter. There are other adapters that will work, but you must use something or else you'll cook one of the components.

You can get details in post #8 of this thread:

Awesome I also found this thread... http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...9&postcount=25

So I guess I'll buy that adapter and hope for the best? I'll be honest all I have done is installed head units and clipped the wires and re-connected them, can I expect I will just have to do the same for this.. including the adapter???

And can I break anything when doing this? I don't want to hose my $200 head unit. But I need to replace by Bose one as the CD player is dying as well as the buttons

As for the extra space you a lot of posibilites. If you are not interested in a tv or anything then invest in an equalizer. W/out upgrading the speakers you will get static at medium to high volume levels especially with burned cd's. By adding the equalizer you can control the range at certian frequency levels in your speakers. You will have the ability to adjust you speakers to suit your taste in music. Check out this eclipse unit: http://www.eclipse-web.com/equalizer/index.html

Interface adapter being: Scosche FAI-1A Factory Amp Interface ?

this one: http://sm.crutchfield.com/S-lGJJpIM9...751&I=142CNN02 ??

And am I going to hear static w/this at medium to high volumes??? Part of me is thinkign I should just save up and replace all speakers, I LOVE how the Bose speakers sound though, I just need a new head unit :/

Yep, that's the adapter I used.

I don't much experience to base this on, but I suspect static in the sound is from people who had a dying headunit and cranked up the volume to compensate, or simply never installed the proper adapter.

Unfortunately, the Bose speakers have an electronic Achilles' Heel, which you can read about here: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....light=bose+amp. If you're not a total klutz, it's a reasonable project to do what I did and install fresh capacitors. Then they'll last forever and possibly sound better too.

OK went to the site and tried selecting my model to view the install details, and it said it won't work with my car???

I did:

1995 Nissan Maxima with Bose stereo, should I ignore this and order anyways?

And will I need this antenna adapter? (even thought I have my antenna disabled b/c the motor broke)

Unless you find an aftermarket headunit made to fit vehicles using the diversity system, you'll need an antenna adapter.... Yes, even with your motorized antenna being disabled. I got mine from Circuit City for $10.00.

The one I used is the PAC ROEM-NIS2 adapter. I got it from ebay.

Just to clarify, the PAC adapter only adapts the aftermarket headunit to the bose system. It does NOT compensate for the single antenna connection on the back of the new headunit. You still need to get an adapter for the antenna connection!

I'm so excited now Have to wait 10 business days though, I guess I should go out and buy an in-dash kit now...

Anyone have any recommendations on some pimped out ****? I don't want an equalizer I don't think... At least those looked really complicated.

I think this may solve my problem! I have a JVC HU and it is pretty loud on the first volume. When I talk with passengers I have to completely turn off the music because its so loud on the first volume.

If you have a Bose system, that tweeter is driven by the Bose Amp mounted on the 5 inch speaker below. If unplug, replugging the wiring connector doesn't help, that tweeter or the Bose Amp needs to be replaced.

If you don't have Bose, then that tweeter is driven directly by the HU. Check the wire around the door hinge first.

True, it will be more clear if the poster is not a seller as well. The Bose stuff are well made and pulling them out is counterproductive and wasteful.
