Pacesetter exhaust (experience only plx)

Alright ive done my .org research, and I read that it is a POS, but I only need it to last 2 years...

Now all the people that post "ITS CRAP ITLL RUST WITHIN A YEAR" do you really have experience with it rusting that quicky? because personally i know nothing that will completely decompose that fast....

Either way, Im looking for something thats insanely cheap, and sounds ok. 250 for a full catback is fine with me, as long as it lasts me 2-3 years until i can afford a WRX.

Now after all that is said? is it worth buying?

I have had the pacesetter on for about 2 years now. It shows no sign of rusting out as of now. But i will see how it survived this winter. But i don't see it having any problems. I wouldn't worry about the rusting as much as getting it installed by a good muffler shop. Its not a perfect fit, the fitment will suck if its not done right.

Other than that, yeah, for 250 bucks how can you beat it? Plus, you'll be the select few including with something other than SP2, WS, Cattman, etc. Plus, its a very good sound IMO, people have had a lot to say on the sound. Not ricey at all. I have a soundclip i'll post up later.

Here's the videoclip

The rattled you hear is the hangers, i needed to adjust them.

huh, does sounds pretty good! what with the hangers? are the rubber parts really stretched out, or what? I might almost think about it.

so people would say that it rusts out faster than an OEM b-pipe + rear section?

3 maxes with no other mods but the cat backs:
i have herd the PS cat back in person and its not bad sounding at all.

i have also herd the SP cat back and its slightly louder, similar sound really.

I had a straight through muffler and it wasnt much louder than the greddy. again similar sound.

i have always eyed the PS but the tip is just hidius. i would def. cut it off and get another tip if i bought one.

I picked the system up from a guy that bought it and never installed it. Went with some rice duel muffler, muffler shop deal. I couldn't pass up the deal. sound is nice.... no rust in the last year or so. Only issue I have is fitment. over axle bend had to be "massaged" to stop axle/pipe collision, resulting is constant clunk, clunk over every bump (might have been ok at stock ride height) and I had to use an old O2 sensore to plug and extra O2 port in the cat back. Bang for the buck it's hard to go wrong in the short term, I would suggest an experienced installer.

I just bought it.. its been on for a week. Def worth it. It sounds great in my opinion. Not ricey at all. Firstone installed it and they made no mention of fitment. Looks perfect and I only get the bump over the beam on big bumps. Do it, you wont.

OMG that's annoying though, espcially if you are lowered. That's my main complaint with it, is the installers who did it first didn't line up the bpipe just right so it doesn't fit over the notch in the rear beam like its suppose to. So everytime i go over a bump its a CLUNK... but i adjusted it a little, and made for a litte more clearance.

If you only expect it to last 2 years then you wont be disappointed when it rots out. Go for it.

Why would you want to deal with a catback that doesn't fit and clunks all the time? That would make me really annoyed and end up replacing it. Get a greddy, just got one for 350 brand new shipped, look around.

I have had mine for almost 2 years and it is still good with no rust. The fit leaves alot to be disired. However, with a torch the fit can be corrected after install by heating the pipe and bending for a better fit. Then you have to cut off the chrome muffler tip and weld it back on to make it more flush with the bumoer, otherwise it sticks out about 3 1/2 inches and looks stupid. With these mods it looks and fits good. It is a loud exhaust but does have a good sound. I am happy with it now.

That is why I told you that I cut off the tip and rewelded it on flush with the bumper. NOW it looks good. That is why I said that WITH the mods I mentioned it was OK.

yup, i got that too...

i got a busted mount in the front of the cat too, but i think that has some thing to do with my fitment issues.

I think my initial mistake was not sliding it all together completely. it hits the rear tow point, hardcore, even little bumps it clunks.. i got it to slide together more and it's better, but still not perfect.

i got some work to do on it to make it not clunk.

Other than that, i'm very happy with it. It came with the car, i was pleased that it wasn't loud at all and not at all ricey. the tip will have to go. probably gonna cut it off and get a stock max tip off ebay, like 30 shipped or something.

seems worth the 250 to me. not sure on performance gains, i'm sure it's not much though.

Let you in how I got mine for 350. Eurojapanparts was advertising a full catback HKS for $300, no such setup available. Ordered it, only got rear section, called them, they would either give me a $50 discount to keep that or refund. Then he offered to give me a greddy for $50 bucks more, wow I jumped on it, 350 shipped for a greddy. I believe they are still advertising this, look and take advantage. Misprints can be your best friend.

Why not just keep your stock and save the money? Catbacks don't add much power.

I'm not doing it for performance, I know that the gains (if any) wont be able to be felt. I'm doing it because my stock catback is almost rusted into 7 pieces, sounds like crap, and I'd just like something that sounded better.

alright well thats 1 reason gone. Now the fitment is my only turn off, but thats solvable. One more question, is it 2.5" piping?

It is 2.25 in piping. I put one on several weeks ago, and I had the shop cut off the tip and weld it back on several inches further back. While I would prefer an SP tip, the exhaust looks and sounds great. I would highly recommend it.
