Greddt SP2 catback

just curious... does anyone have any fitment problems with their greddy sp2 cat backs? it just does not seem to fit on my 96 max se like it should. i will post pics tomorrow or wed. anything i can do to make it fit better? the bpipe, before it goes over the axel, hangs about an inch lower than it should. so from the side profile, on the passenger side of the car, you can see the exhaust pipe.

That is fairly normal. It will hang a bit lower than stock. You can bring it up closer by adjusting the hanger on the b-pipe, but it will always hang a bit lower. I can see mine a bit if I crouch down.

I mean as long as you don't bottom out on the car I think the pipe should be fine. How is the sound of it? Any one have the sound of the SP2? Planning on buying it.

thanks guys. i called greddy yesterday and they said to email pics to their tech department. it doesnt bottom out or anything, but if i go over something like a speed bump it sometimes slightly scrapes the exhaust. o well. im glad to hear that the sp2 fits the same on other maxs.

heres what my car looks like in case you were wondering

yeah man...

I just had my GReddy SP2 installed yesterday I wasn't too happy with the fitment....my rear O2 sensor is sticking down, impeding my ground clearance by about a half inch. But that's not even the lowest part of the car because the rear half of the exhaust tubing is BELOW the lower axle! The rear of my car looks exactly like that....the tip of the exhaust is pressing against the passenger side of the exhaust cutout on the bumper. After I drive for like 10 or 15 minutes you can even start to smell burning....I'm pretty sure its gonna melt my bumper!

Mine fit perfect.. Installed on Tuesday. My b-Pipe dont seem to hang low, Or is my eyes deceiving me. Only problem I had with mine was rattling and one of my gaskets was letting air out, so Had a leak.. I fixed both, and now the Sp2 is fine.

Hhmmmm

How does your rear O2 sensor (just aft of the cat) look? Is it pointing downward? & you got the 95-96 exhaust? do you have any pictures? I'm interested to see how it looks

the burning smell is normal, its just all the gaskets burning melting into place. the smell will go away, and it wont burn your bumper

+1 on "not so hot" fitment.
it'd be one thing if the b pipe was just hanging low, or it was JUST the tip burning my bumper, but both of them at the same time makes for a not so happy owner.
as far as the b-pipe, your screwed, cause if you attempt to put a hangar to push it up your putting pressure on all the connections all the way up to the header since your twisting it. now i dont know HOW bad this is, but the topic was explore before and it made sense to me.
with the tip on the bumper, a friend suggested dremeling the bumper for better fitment and then forming some type of metal guard to secure to the little indention to keep the bumper from melting. but i havent explored it yet.

yeah totally! I can't help but feeling a lil bit betrayed by the world on this deal...I knew it wasn't going to be a perfect fitment, but I wasn't expecting this! my car now has an effective 2.5" ground clearance.... aarrgh oh well, I guess I'll have to live with it. Maybe adding a Y-pipe & high-flo cat would make everything all better?

man i know...
it seems like all they have to do is turn the flange on the end a little...
i hear ya on the drop, i really started getting pissed when i dropped my car, and i know i can go lower, i just dont dare.
i also wasnt too thrilled about having to find one of those 02 plug bolts to plug up the extra 02 bung which is not needed for 95's.

I have a Greddy SP2 95-96 and it does have an O2 sensor bung. It points donward about 45 degree angle, I plugged mine up. The 97 rear section must be a little longer, and they use the same b-pipe for all.

No issues with the 97-99, tucks up real nice at the B. Had to do the hose-clamp mod in the rear though to pull up the tip.

You take a standard hose clamp (Home Depot/Lowes), loop it around the rubber exhaust hangers attaching the muffler, and cinch until the exhaust tip is centered in the rear opening and tucked up where you want it to be. One word of caution, if you flush it with the rear panel it could melt the plastic - mine is a little less than 1/4" between the tip and the exhaust opening.

I believe they use the same b pipe for all 4th gens, just the rear sections are different, 97-99 bumper sticks out more. So the b-pipe should fit the same, but with mine I adjusted the hanger on the b pipe to hang higher up. The quality on this exhaust is top notch, nice welds and smooth bends, comes with all hardware and gaskets.
