fixed everything now
fixed everything now
okay, so for the 8 months ive had my car something has been a little wrong the whole time.
when i got my 95 5spd maxima for 3900 i knew there were some problems, but didnt know how much. so far here is what has been fixed.
knock sensor
front bank 02 sensor
full clutch assembly
rear engine mount
front brakes w/ resurfaced rotors
gauge cluster (first one was defective and took nissan 8 months to get a replacement)
thermostat
radiator w/ inlet and outlet hoses
potenza g009 tires (originals had one that leaked, and one that was a cheepo)
driver side rear door window motor and what i think is called the condenser but not sure if thats exactly what its called right now
driver side control arm
passenger side tie rod
allignment (front passenger camber is off my .08 can only be fixed with new strut)
middle rear seat seatbelt-free
the total of all this is about $4300 dollars. i have paid 2100 of it. this is me being 17 with no job.
the depressing part was that one of my reverse bulbs went out, and a headlight bulb last night.

that means your Maxima has now run you $8200 - for that sort of money, you could have bought a 98/99 in excellent shape.
Where are you getting all the work done?
In any case, the car is in much better shape than when you bought it - so

some of the stuff you had to fix could of waited a bit. Unless you just had money to throw. Whenever buying a car expect to aleast pay $2000 in "tune-up" parts. I call them tune-up parts anyways. But yea like someone stated above, For the money you spent total on that car. You could of just picked up any car off the FS section and there would be no problems with it. I think there was a 98 SCed oned with low miles going for $9000.
well half of that was needed pretty bad. the engine mount was, then the clutch, then the brakes ( supposedly "a block left on the pads"), and tires. control arm and tie rod were bad enough that my uncle said it was unsafe to drive ( honda mechanic). the rear window was cracked and wouldnt stay up all the way and would not move down or up. for the safety of my self and the car it needed to be fixed. i had checked all part prices and in the end it would have been a difference of about 80 dollars from nissan. i had the clutch, engine mount, brakes (i paid) done at a local repair shop but the rest at nissan because my dad forced me to since he was paying and not me.
also even if i had wanted to do stuff i didnt have the opportunity because i didnt have a garage or working jack to do so.

I'll apologize now. But I couldn't help but remember this post from ya.

You should have never went to the dealership, over 4 thousand in repairs! Never go there again, get the parts online, then get a qualified mechanic to put them in. Small shops usually have cheaper labor. Good luck with the bulbs, replace both headlights at the same time, for equal beam pattern.
hold on...is HE the import mechanic? Cause if he is, wow, hw must not know how much parts are worth. $4300 for that crap is rediculous. I'll do 2 swaps (manual, 3.5) for less than HALF of that. With the other half, i dont know, helicopter conversion? Maxima sub?
okay...no internet so im at school now. for one i had no choice this work had to be done at nissan, my dad wanted warranties on the work done by nissan. yesterday i went to nissan cus i had brought it in for a even worse radiator leak. tell me i need new cv boot driver side, passenger side control arm, and new accesory belt. im like okay i new that was coming, but they cant find the coolant leak. so they take 4 hours to figure out that its my water pump, gonna cost 165 for the pump and 1600 for labor. im like freakin out cus if it comes down to it im selling the car, i cant pay that. well yeaterday go to get it, no work done just an oil change right? wrong. they replaced everything but the water pump even though my dad said not to on three occasions. hes pissed 1000 instead of 20 bucks. talked to them and now they are the ones ****tin their pants. now i get the pump for 75 ( what she payed for it), free labor on the pump, a 55 discount on the parts from the other labor, and then on top of that i get free oil changes for life. nissan finally payed off
