Very Strange Idle Problems

Okay, today I noticed that my idle was going waaaaaay low when comming to a stop. I would be driving at a normal speed and rpms. Around 40 mph and ~2k rpms. I would come to a stop and my rpms would drop past 500 and go down to 250. Then shoot back up to 550. I was afraid of stalling, so I would shove it into N when comming to a stop. This occured under normal brakeing. My subwoofer also cuts out for a second during brakeing.

What can be the cause of this?

I have a 02 10 check engine light:

0210
Diagnostic Trouble Code 0210 points to a problem with the fuel injection system. When the engine management system is running in closed-loop mode the Engine Control Unit (the computer) makes continual adjustments to maintain the air-fuel ratio near the ideal point. To achieve this it relies on signals from many sensors including the Mass Air Flow Sensor and the Oxygen Sensors.

This malfunction is detected when the ECM finds that it cannot properly control the air/fuel mixture, and the mixture is too lean (too much air). DTC 0210 indicates this problem exists on the left bank (the front bank, cylinders 2, 4, and 6). Possible causes include ...
- Intake air leaks
- Front Oxygen Sensor
- one or more fuel injectors on the front bank
- exhaust gas leaks
- incorrect fuel pressure
- lack of fuel
- Mass Air Flow Sensor

Just wanted to know if there is a perticualr problem for my idle problem other than what's listed.

The IACV is clean. Throttle body was cleaned a year or so ago. Don't know what else to list...

Could very likely be that you need a MAF sensor. I was going to say it could be the IACV valve but since you have changed that it wouldn't be that then.

Check the MAF & your intake to ensure they are connected properly. If it was a problem with exhaust, you would probably throw an EGR code (Exhaust gas recirculation).

I have that same problem with my car at times - I think it's a vacuum leak somewhere, however, my car doesn't drop that low ALL the time, so it confuses me. Good luck.

If your using a K&N filter some of the oils might have got on the wire. The coating would prevent the MAF Sensor from telling the ECU how much air is coming in. Check the Voltage reading on the MAF sensor and check for oxidation or anything on that wire which would cause the Sensor to operate incorrectly.

4. At idle voltage should be 1.0-1.7V
5. At 2500RPM should be 1.5-2.1V

If voltage is lower than these values, the MAF is no good.
Would that be the correct way to test the MAF?

Today, I noticed that the rpms would bounce up and down when I step on the brakes comming to a stop. Also, it felt funny when I started to accelerate after a slow down.

Get a ohms meter and check your TPS (throttle positiong sensor)

and check your CPS (crankshaft ps.)

Found how to check the TPS in the Stickies.

I might just end up bringing it to a mechanic...

I just replaced my KS and now I have idle problems. Seems to idle at 400rpm but bounces between 200 & 800. Seems like it will stall but never does.

My research indicates a clogged IACV port in the throttle body. Going to clean that out this w/e and see if it sorts it.

BTW, KS replacement is amazing, what a difference!
