Need help identifying a sound
Sometimes (not every time) when I hit a bump or pothole or road seam, I get a very strange noise coming from my rear passenger wheel. It sounds like what you hear when a blown subwoofer hits. It resonates through the car pretty badly. Anyone have an idea? Thanks for your help.
Like when you hit the bump with the front end or when the rear end hits it or both times? Can you be more descriptive. Check your wheel well, and your shock maybe? Not a expert here but check your shocks, Maybe a bushing is out somewhere back there too.
Help ASAP
Guys i really need your help. For some reason i can't post my own thread
I've got some problem with my car, i got it a week ago it's 97 with a 156k miles on it. It runs very good, but when engine works i can hear some kind of "click click click" and it comes from the second valve cover witch is behind intake mainfold and i can hear it mostly from the left side (where is the belts)
One more thing, when the car is cold i hear these clicks very slightly because rpms about 1500 and it's kinda mixing with the all other noises, but when car warms up rpms about 600 and engine bay is more soundless those damn clicks comes out more painfull for my ears. I don't think that is injectors because it sounds more like metal. And all the times it's exactly the same spot where it comes from. For me it seems like one wrong valve adjusment. I didn't change the oil after a previous owner yet and it's still running on regular gas witch is left in tank.
I'm still hope if i'll do the oil change and premium gas it'll solve the problem.
I really want to be happy with my car but i can't because of this problem.
Help me please any advise maybe someone expiriensed this problem.
Please do not ignore
Thank you.
I can record this sound, maybe it'll help you to recognize the problem.
Somebody please post it.

The strut might be blown thus bottoming out when you hit a bump. How fast were you going when you go over bumps? Do you have stock struts/springs?

i had the same problem to. the sound is so annoying. does it make your car feel really bad when you hit the bumps? i replaced all 4 of my stock shocks/struts with another set of stock ones with less mileage on it. the resonating sound went away. but i still have a slight sound from the back like its something that just wants to give or something.
If you've never replaced the stock struts, how can you be sure that none of them are blown? With a car as old as yours, its common to have blown stock struts.

This happened to me when I first got my car, 6 years ago. Not sure if it is the same noise, and this may sound stupid and obvious, but mine was my mudguard. All the screws but 1 fell out, and it was boucing around when I hit bumps. It was the last thing I checked.
