help.

My cars been really loud lately, so i figured my muffler was rusted. I just took it to Monro Mufflers, and they said my muffler, and exuast pipe (and 2 gaskets) need to be replaced. I took at a look at it, and the pipe is not even connected to the muffler anymore (and they're both quite rusted).

anyway, the parts alone cost 230 for the muffler, and 247 for the exuast pipe. Is there anywhere i can get this cheaper?!

I dont have $500 right now, and the guy said the front pipe (not sure what they're called) will come off too, if i leave this hanging.

Thanks!

Try a junk yard or the f/s section. See if anyone is parting out in your area.

start a thread in the f/s section. Many people have upgraded their exhaust and still have the stock one laying around. I'm sure for cheaper than the muffler they maybe willing to get rid of it. Start a thread in your regional section first, maybe some close by has one and you wont have to worry about paying for shipping.

If you have an "advance auto parts", they quoted me $136 with my discount. Thats a cat back pre welded, all i have to do is put two bolts in and then the hangers. Done

Just an opinion. Get custom work on the cat back, got mine for about 90dlls cant forget to mention that is crush bent, but hey 2.5" crush bent is way better than oem crush bent; about muffler you can get a 5th gen for about 50dlls on a junkyard of course, but in the other hand you can always get a decent performance brand new 2.5" dynomax superturbo muffler for $40 dlls + shipping

www.summitracing.com search for part number 17733

Evo - My best recommendation to you is to go the way I did, and upgrade to a performance exhaust. If you don't go chasing brand names, you can pick up a hi-flow cat and muffler online for cheap and then go to an exhaust shop and they'll weld it all together for you with a mandrel bent B-pipe. Thats how I did it, my final cost parts + labor = $300.

My exhaust system is about to do the same thing.. some cover fell off the pipe connecting the muffler, now it's all wobbling around and making this knocking noise.. I actually used a wire clothes hanger to sortof hold that rusty hunk of crap pipe back on..

Anyone know the name of all the parts I need?? Muffler, the next pipe, and then the other thing that looks sortof like a muffler.. Plus I'll need the gaskets and the brackets I suppose..
