I tinted my Beige Max rear windshield, and two rear windows (four pieces). The tint is like brown which the guy who did it said matches Beige well. I felt the same. I asked for the darkest one in that brown family. It is OK with me but not the very dark color like some lemos.

I don't know the % of it, and don't know the limit in CA either.

Jet black 5% would look tight on your car, I had a beige 92 GXE with 5% black and it looked tight, I will try to find the pictures of it and post them when I can

I'm getting tint done next weekend (my max is beige too).
There is copper, charcoal and black.
I'm leaning towards the charcoal or a light copper.

I used to have a pair of glasses (near sighted) that changes from transparent to dark color like brownish when it is exposed to bright environment, and changes back when it is not. I think it can also be used for the car window glasses.

I only thing with that glasses is that it alway has some color even if it is in the no so bright area. That'll block some light, and I no longer have that.
