Rack and pinion repair

I had my rack and pinion repaired on Monday and I found that the steering was tight. I asked the guy why it was so and he said it's because it's new and it should loosen up later. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Should be hte case, mine is hella loose right now and I hate it. I wish it was stiffer.

I had a rebuild put in a few weeks ago. The first day I noticed how tight it was, but now I forget what it was like before.

a bit off topic, but where did you get it done and how much was it? mine's leaking very very slowly

Kevlo911 and MaxRandy: yeah, some people I've talked to prefer their steering stiff too, but I'm so used to it the way it was... I miss it.

kraimer21: I got it done at Peguero Brothers repair shop at 340 Grand Concourse in the Bx. Their prices were good. My boy recommended them to me. As far as the price, I don't know the exact price for the rack and pinion work. I had a lot of work done at once.
