Timing chain question

hey guys, i'm doing the 3.5 swap, and I need the VQ30 timing chain, and intake cams(drilled)...what I need to know is, is it at all possible to take out the timing chains while the engine is in the car? i don't want to rip apart my engine, so i'm doing it to a junkyard engine. And how long would it take to do this?

I have a haynes manual and FSM, but i'm asking people from their personal experiences.

Thanks,
-Freddy

PM JClaw. Perhaps he can help you out as he's done the 3.5 swap.

Im pretty sure it can be done with the passenger side wheel off and all of the access bolts to the timing chain cover are off. I dont see why not. If timing belts can be done without removing the engine then the nissan timing chain would come off in the same matter. If I was you I would just buy a new chain.

That doesn't mean he removed the timing cover with the motor still in the car. I've done it and yes it's possible.
