When I apply moderate pressure on the brakes, the car will pull slightly to the right. (feels like torque steer) I just replaced my brake pads last year with OEM ceramic pads. I had the rotors re-surfaced, and now it pulls. Can anyone give me some good feedback on what could be causing this? Thanks.

 

It could be a caliper sticking. Does it pulsate at all?

 

My Nissan pickup used to do this (to the right). Upon getting out and inspecting it, I had smoke rolling off the pads and rotor. It was because the pads were too tight around the rotor. To fix it, I took one of the backing shims out. Fixed, and it never gave me a problem since. I also just replaced the rear pads on my Max, and they squeel, can't figure out why.

 

dragging caliper sounds like the culprit.

Pull the caliper off, and test the caliper pins. Regreese, and see if that does the trick.

 

I think a bad or warped rotor can cause it too.

 

What you mentioned is what I am leaning towards, The passanger side is where they had to cut more than the driver. I watched him while turning the rotor, and I could see a spot that was barely touching the cutter while he was turning it. Time to get some slotted rotors.

 

If warped rotors is the case, he should feel some vibrations as well.

 

Yup but if the rotor was resurfaced wrong that seems like a likely candidate as well.

 

Replace the calipers and reblead the brakes.

 

Make sure the road isn't slanted to the right.

 

Sorry to jack the thread but people started mentioning resurfacing. How many times would you guys resurface yours? I have already done it once and am VERY tempted to just throw on Brembo Blanks and shut up.

Time for a new caliper, start looking

 

Either have a warpped rotor or your caliper slider bolts need to be greased or both.

 

Doesn't make sense. Passenger side is the right, and car pulls to the right. That means that the brakes on the right (passenger) side are working better than the brakes on the left.
Lift the left (driver) side, take the wheel off, and check the pad wear. I'm betting you'll find either
(1) uneven wear (cause: binding caliper pins, as stated by others. dismantle, clean, grease) or
(2) brake fluid leaking on to the pads (cause: bad caliper piston seal. replace caliper or, if broke, try a repair kit)

 

If the passenger side is sticking it makes sense.

 

He said 'pulls to the right', so I assumed that he meant under braking only, not while cruising. Car pulls to the side of the good brake, correct? That's why I suggested checking the one (left) that is working less well.

 

my left side caliper sliding pin was rusted into the spot which caused my car to pull left. I had to replace the part that when over the rotor and held the caliper cuz i couldnt free the pin from it. Just something to look at.
