I thought I had it all figured out with these fogs. A little background info. I was putting fogs on a 97 GLE that came without them so I ordered the kit from Courtesy. They came and I installed them no problem. The driver side never worked. I swapped them and the driver side still didn't work meaning it was a problem with the wiring. Then I got out my voltage tester thing and stuck some tiny nails into the wiring connector. I turned on the fogs and got a reading on the passenger side. Then I went to the driver side and got nothing. Then I touched one nail and the frame of the car and got a reading, meaning the fogs were not grounding properly. So then I started looking and I noticed there was dirt built up inside the connector. I soaked it in some baking soda and water and it fizzed and bubbled and a lot of stuff came out. I hooked it back up and it worked great. Then today I noticed that the driver side was flickering on/off while I was driving. I took the fog out when I got home and shook it and everything but couldn't get it flicker on/off. Another thing, when I turn them on the passenger side comes on immediately but the driver side is delayed. When it finally comes on I shined it right above the passenger side and the passenger side is brighter. Then the driver side started dimming by itself. I was just holding it. I opened up the connector and I can see dirt/sand around it but I will work on that tomorrow. I guess my question is (after all this I still haven't asked a question...) could dirt in the connector cause the fog light to not shine as bright? And what is the best way to get that dirt out? Would water work? Thanks in advance.
