AC compressor replacement

So a few weeks ago i was getting some really bad bearing noises coming from my AC compressor. I went to midas(not very smart) to get the AC system depressurized. The wanted $50 just to depressurize it. For the heck of it, i asked how much it would be for them to replace it. He said about 750.00 parts and labor, i almost laughed in his face.
Anywho, I can get a compressor a used compressor from ebay for like $120, or i can get one from pinnacle nissan for about 310.00.

Which one should i get?
Any tips on how to replace the thing?

Also the guy was saying some BS that the system did not have to flush util after the compressor's removed, didnt understand him very well(bad accent), anyone know what he's talking about?

You must evacuate the system prior to working on it, because it's not only illegal and bad for the environment, but it'll ruin your day if you catch a blast of R134a in your face when taking the lines off of the compressor.

Then, the compressor is just a matter of a few bolts going through to the block, a belt, and the lines being bolted on to the compressor. Replacement of that physically shouldn't take more than 45 minutes.

Then, you can take it to a shop and get it recharged. I really can't give an estimate on evacuating then recharging, because I haven't the slightest idea.

I was unfortunate to have this same problem.. My compressor bearing were shot. I paid about $250 shipped for a compressor (advanceautoparts) Paid $30 to flush air out of system and I charged it myself with R134a kit. All together about $350-400 invested. Installing is simple just two bolts i believe. Don't forget to add 8oz can of oil if you do it yourself!!

I had the same thing happened to me but the original fault was a thermal sensor. Which caused the compressor to be always on. So you should check the sensor also.

I lost my splash shield in that area and it starting happening a few weeks after that. I guess all the moisture messed it up.

For those who replaced there compressors: Did you replace your drier or other components too? Is the AC working fine now?

Also i went to two autozones and asked them for AC compressor oil and they gave me something like this:

Is this what i need to fill the compressor itself with?

There is no need to replace the dryer if you didn't open the system long or the weather was pretty dry.

The compressed can of oil is for recharging closed system. For a new compressor before going on a car, the oil comes in a small screw cap plastic bottle.

Having a hard time finding the bottled one, the autozones here seem to not have it. Which one should i use PAG or Ester oil? Can someone give me a link to the right one? i'm confused.
