engine runs better with CEL on!

My CEL has been on for about a month giving me O2 sensor codes. I finally got around to gettin it fixed and i honestly think my car runs better with the light on! I have an auto tranny and it seems to switch gears at lower rpm's when I'm just normally driving with the CEL on and it also seems to use more gas, but at WOT the Maxima winds up so hard! it also seems to have more midrange power too (not WOT, but half open throttle.). It stays in gear better too. It shifts less often with the CEL light on. with it off, my tranny is always downshifting and upshifting at weird times (like when I'm just applying steady pressure to the gas at around 35 or 40 mph it will just shift up or down for no apparent reason sometimes.). Anyone have this happen to them?

O2 sensor codes don't effect transmission operation.
Placebo(sp?) perhaps?

Kinda like that feeling if your car is spotless clean that it runs better, has more power and great gas mileage.....lol

Well, no problem, just put the old oxy sensor back in and send the new one to me, I could really use it!
