Shocks/Struts
Shocks/Struts
I went to my mechanic a little while ago and he told me that my shocks and struts are pretty worn and should be replaced when I have a chance. I dont hear any squeaking or anything but the ride does feel a bit too harsh even for SE standards. Do these two components have anything to do with handling and cornering or is it just for bump absorption? Should I replace them with OEM parts or are there aftermarket shocks/struts that improve the car's performance. Keep in mind that Im not really looking to sacrifice too much ride quality, Thanks!

Have your mechanic install a set of Tokico Blue HP struts/shocks. They will give your car that new car like ride back. They are an excellent choice over a stock replacement (cheaper as well) and will yield a better ride too.

First off our cars do not have both shocks and struts, they have struts only. Second, yes struts affect handling and cornering too. If the struts are worn your car will actually go softer, not harder. I am sure that your mechanic is basing his recomendation purely on mileage and not signs of wear. I would not change them unless you are concerned with maintaining maximum control or you notice your car bouncing more.

[QUOTE=devilz05]Who sells them? [quote]
Search the web, shocks.com has them, ebay sellers usually have them as well.
I run the Tokico Illuminas on my 99 SE. They are nothing short of fantastic.
My buddy runs the Tokico Blue HP's on his I30. Excellent smooth ride with nice handling. He's put just about 80,000 miles on them with no trouble and what seems like no change in ride comfort or control.

You can get better deals on ebay, and honestly, most of the sellers with a large number of ratings and good scores are usually reputable. I would definitely consider ebay since its the cheapest option.

not to be cheap or anything...i found the ksport and tien lowering springs that will cost about 150+ with shipping..on ebay
i was thinking of only lowering my max..just by buying the springs..in future if i hv enough money i would buy struts..and also..does it will help with stock struts and after market springs..for lowering or improving condition..
any suggestion..

I wanna trnsform my 4x4 to a car... what would be the best route to go as far as ride qaulity...lowering spring, or coilovers? i am under the assumption that lowering springs would be the way to go...but what is a good brand that will close my wheel gap a good bit?
infiniti i30 with Teins
Does anyone have this setup? And if so, what kind of shocks are you using. I just purchased and set of Tein H-Tech's, but debated on what kind of shocks to use with it. Thanks for any input.
