97 Maxima Bose audio compatibility

I am looking to replace the Bose CD/Cassette/Radio system in my '97 Maxima SE. Can anyone advise me what models' (Nissan or Infinnity) and years' Bose stereo are interchangeable (with an identical plug) with the one in my '97 Maxima.

thank you for your help

Nissans use the same wiring connections. Just stick with Bose and you'll be fine. Here's one thing to consider, though: get one where the face is the same size and shape. I have an '03 350Z Bose stereo in my '95 Max. No problems with the connections (with the addition of an antenna adapter), but the actual face of the new stereo is slightly bigger and not perfectly rectangle. I had to Dremel the trim piece to make it fit.

Nice any pics of it. Would love to see it cause I have a bose unit too.

O yeah the bose units are all interchangable. Go newer, it is better

The '97 and before Clarion/Bose HU doesn't have the phone plug and the '98 and after have phone plug but should still work for you.

Thanks for all your help. Would a Bose unit from any Nissan or Infinnity be the same size and use the same plug as mine? What's the latest (car) model year would be interchangeable?

thanks

they're not all quite the same size, as isawyou mentioned above. if you buy a unit from a 1995-1999 Maxima or 1995-1999 Infinity i30, you're guaranteed a perfect fit/connection. That should give you enough simple options. Later years/models might require minor modifications to the way it mounts in the dash.

No pictures and no digital camera either. It looks good, but lights in ororange when everything else is white. Dremeling the trim piece, though it didn't take much, took a lot of patience. I lilke the new 6disc changer though

I put in a 99 Altima Headunit in to my maxima when I first got it. It was a perfect fit and a updated look compared to the stock tapedeck and burnt out display of the original HU.

If you dont mind doing a liitle wiring I'd try "Crutchfield.com". They have a really look search tool that specifies you vechile and even asks if it has the Bose system in it. Install kits are easy and they even have a link to removal and replacement instructions for the Stereo and speakers.
