Ashtray problem

I think something in the ashtray is perked up to stop the tray from opening. Does anyone have any suggestions to get it open again.

Only thing I can tell you is take it out and then try and fix it. I think if you just pry it you may need to end up buying a new one. I assume it would be damn annoying to always have that thing open once it's broken.

start by popping off the shifter pannel with the lighter. just use a flathead screwdriver and work around the edge till it pops off. then you can get to the screws holding in the ashtray

Springs are likely shot. Mine does not open when there is a bunch of change in it. Just put something thin in the top slot and pry back gently...
