Engine grounding(useless thread)

I haven't seen one of these threads in a while so I thought it would be ok to post it. And since I don't have a digital camera I have been reluctant, but here goes. I recently cleaned my gounds and added some gounds to my engine. If you have an auto that likes to hesitate this may help you. My car would always start in 2nd maybe 3rd if I did a rolling stop, it almost totally eliminated this. The car drives solid, no gains per se, but instead of having good and bad days, i just have good days now

i would also like to find out if people who tried tried this did it with a paradox (or other brand) pully? for the lack of annother word that escapes me.

i would also like to add a grounding kit, cause i know it would help out. but to waste money on an aftermarket one is BS... to expensive, just make your own guys!

annother ...

what way would you guys rought your wires? here is how i would do it... wire from negitive to a ground point, from that point to annother point and so on.
most aftermarket kits all go from center out to differnt points, i dont like it, but which way is better? i would guess they are both simular if not the same, but just want to get opinions.

I actually ordered my grounding kit last week and should have it soon. As far as how to run them I'm going to find some diagrams and see which one seems the best.

Well I got about 6-7 feet of 4 gauge from my work and some gold audio eyelets from pep boys. And since I didn't have a crimper I had to buy one of those. Total was about 30 bucks.
I ran from the drivers side strut tower to the neg battery terminal. If you follow the stock ground from the negative terminal to the engine block this is where I stared my second run from the engine block to the IM, I used a bolt that hold the bracket for TB cables. Then I ran from that bolt to the timing cover, another bracked bolt, and then from the timing cover to the passenger side strut tower. I know there are more grounds I could have done. But I think the stock grounds for alternator ect are good enough if you clean them.

Here are some tips-

When grounding, you MUST scratch the paint off of the location you are grounding too.

You should have at least one ground on the following-
Block
Head
Starter
Alternator
Transmission
AC

Now, sometimes they are incorporated into the wiring harness (alternator, a/c, starter) somtimes they are not.

But the auto going when I want it to is more then worth it to me. No more push the gas and let the car decide if it wants to go today.

Thanks for the niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice grounding link. Is there anything more simple than that? I'm not looking for wires all over my engine bay like that, unless I have to.

happyricefob - Thank you, I like your car too.

I used 4 AWG when I did it in another Nissan car. I replaced the factory ground that goes to the chassis and then the front of the engine block. I put a wire from the chassis to a bolt on the transmission on both sides of the engine bay. One from the alternator to the body. Two more one form the engine block to the chassis on both sides and one form the head to the chassis. Most of these are very short, the shorter the better. Overkill? Probably. Did it work well? No doubt. I also ran a second positive cable (0 AWG) from the battery to the alternator, no need to disconnect the one already in place.
