I have original wheel overs on my MAX (see pic below) and recently two them have started squeaking a LOT. I can hear that @ slow speeds and its really annoying and feels bad.
Dealer as usual has just one for $80. Is there a cheaper way?? I'm currently under the impression that this is something that can't be fixed and has to be replaced. is that right?

Help me...thanks

I've never heard of wheel covers making noises. Your best best is a salvage yard.

1) Perhaps you can eliminate the squeaks by lubricating the plastic "fingers" of the wheel covers which touch the steel wheel. Any kind of lubricant will do, but perhaps a wax would resist wash-out and be long lasting.

2) Buy factory replacements from Hub Cap Annie instead of the dealer. http://www.hubcapannie.com/

3) Find a Maxima owner who has recently replaced his factory "steelies" with alloy wheels. Make him an offer.

Most parts from dealers are expensive. If the original wheel cover is $80 each, I'll either get an after market one for a lot less, or an inexpensive after market alloy wheel, maybe a little more. I know some cheap alloy wheel costs about $100 each or even less.
