Missing Stud!!

I doubt this one is in the stickies!!! Long story short, stud came loose and i guess wen i put my rims back on it pushed the stud through...somewhere!! I didnt know at first til i get home and wen i slow down i hear clunking! so im guessing the stud is in there somewhere just rattling around. Possible?? or would it fall out completely? this is bullcrap

Technically you are suppose to use 72-87 ft-lbs of torque. It is possible that you over tightened the lugs and the stud came out.

well, it didnt "come out", it "went in"! it pushed in, it wouldnt come out cuz it gets thicker, so it doesnt fit all the way through. i just had to take apart a lot of crap to have the stud fall to the ground. but for me to get it back in, i guess i have to take aprt a few more things, so i think imma just ride on four. thats life i guess, well, with cars, u fix one thing, another goes wrong, i dont think this is too serious though.

I just replaced one of my front studs that I broke. It was real easy, when I get home I'll post the site which shows you detailed instructions on how to do it. They saved me $45 bucks. The stud costs $3 dollars from auto zone and you probably have all the tools necessary right now.

i broke 4 stud yesterday and it took me 30 minutes to replace them, heres how, take the wheel off, then the caliper, the caliper braket, and then the rotor. now you have you five studs on the hub. Because mine broke trying to take the wheel off i had to knock mine out, just take a hammer and hit the stud to push it out twards the car. it pushed out twards the car. take the new stud and put it in the hole hit it with the hammer a couple of times to secure it, then get some washers thats hole is big enough for the stud to go through. the more washers you have the easier. take a lug nut and srew it onto the stud with the washers. the washer are because the lug nut cant go on the way ontot the stud for you to tighten it. with the washers on there tighten the lugnut unitil it pull the lugnut all the way threw the hub and until you cannot see the teeth on the stud andmore, and then you done. the hardest part for me was finding the washers. take the lug nut off and then the washers and you have a new stude. WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT TRY AND PUT YOUR WHEEL ON UNTIL YOU CANT SEE ANYMORE OF THOSE TEETH ON THE STUD, IF YOU PUT YOUR WHEEL ON WITH TEETH SHOWING AND PUT A LUG ON THERE IT WITH JUST SPIN AROUND AND YOU WONT GET IT BACK OFF

for you I don't recommend on driving. LOL
there is some work you have to do get that stud back in, just be lucky that it didn't happen to any other ones on the same wheel.

Sorry it took so long to get the site, my home internet crapped out. Go to www.motorvate.ca, and click on the brake disassembly. It tells you the tools and for me provided useful pictures of the job. Once you have the hub off pound the broke stud in and use washers to leverage the new stud as you screw it back in.
