testing MAF

how do i test my mass airflow sensor?

back probe the black and white wires with a multi meter. you need to drive the car and watch the voltage. it will be between 1-5 volts depending on throttle position and load.

Mine is 1.11 at idle and peaks to 4.24 under full throttle.

wait wait wait,,,, 1-5 volts??
most others Ive read have .4 volts idle (close) and 4volts WOT....

interesting....
does it matter?

that sounds like TPS .4 closed to 4 volts open.

yes is does matter, since the lower the voltage means the engine sees less air, even tho it would be getting plenty. that means you become lean (well under open loop).
