Happens to my car too now. I guess the connection is going bad. Not a big deal. Now you have an excuse to get a new headunit.

I'll be a nice guy and post about it...even though this topic comes up EVERY DAY

there are resistors cracked on a certain PCB board inside the Bose. Look in the "How To" stickies on how to fix it. I fixed mine following the website, and it works perfectly now. Some of the resistors on the board have cracked solder, and depending on vibrations or hot/cold expansion and contraction, you will either get a display or no display.

This is the page with info about possible fixes. Seems like you can fix it by re soldering or replacing a resistor: http://Madchef.5u.com/Maxima/Bose/Bose.html

May be you know this already. The HU is Clarion, not Bose. Just because "Bose" is printer across the face, they get a lot of bad rap. Once the HU is out of the dash, the face comes off pretty easily. Just a few screws on the back holding the top and bottom covers. Then the faceplate just pulls off.

The 4 screws on the side frame are pretty tough to get out. You need to lay the HU on the side screw facing up. Then use as large of a screw driver as you have and they will come out. You have need to tap the driver with a hammer as you twist.

I have had this problem a while back. The flickering lights annoyed me so much i knocked the radio really hard with my knuckles. Surprisingly it stopped the flickering! Wierd... i dont recomend abusing or hitting your radio LOL i was just annoyed with mine.

When the lights flicker does the music stop or interrupt? If it does perhaps the power supply , wiring for the power, or fuse has an issue to be fixed.

Gluck!

Might be a resistor like the above posts mentions. If you are willing to fix it yourself go ahead might be a pain or just leave it. I would just go to the scrap yard and buy an identical or higher model from a newer year at good price.
