Computer goes into open loop mode and disreguards all o2 sensor readings and just dumps gas into the engine.

Well technically it doesn't just "dump gas". It's still metered precisely based primarily on MAF voltage and RPM.

Well, you press on the accelerator, and the pedal pulls on the cable. On the other end of the cable is a dial and pointer, like on an old-fashioned elevator. A little tiny Nissan engine operator gnome watches the pointer and adjusts the engine so it's running just-so.

looking at your question I think you need to stop over at howstuffworks.com they will give you basic idea of an engine works not to mention some nice animated diagrams. This is a better approach instead asking a bunch of dumbass maxima drivers. This doesn't sound like a maxima specific question.

The little Nissan grone puts his feet on the ground like Fred Flintstone and slows the car down.

The flux-capicitor is activated and if there is a female within 50-feet her bra will get sucked in and shot out the exhaust.

Since you are not reading the answer given to you in plain english....Read the FSM... it has all the information you want, and probably more.
