This is the same principle used in designing intake manifolds. How do you think the 5th gen makes so much more power when the intake manifold flap changes over? It effectively changes the runner length, and thus the "tuned" rpm, thus the torque increases. I also suspect this effect is increased whent he car is moving at higher speeds. (I base this on my quarter mile results, versus dyno results.)
You have it backwards. The 5th gen's intake manifold switches to the SHORT intake runners at high RPMs not the long ones. The resonance is a bad thing at high engine speeds. That's why a 4th gen has less power up top than a 5th, because it is using a long intake runner design ALL THE TIME, just like the CAI. The short runners, ala pop intake, are optimized for high end.

There are some smart enthusiasts on this thread as well as some uneducated morons. Hehe.....It seems like every post eventually turns into a flame war. Can't we just make all the stop?

Yes, it does switch to the shorter runners at high rpm. But, intake manifold runners are a different story than an intake pipe that feeds the throttle body. Resonance is never "bad" per se, it just depends on what is trying to be accomplished. Resonance is also dependent on more than just length.

On my car, the POP type intake resulted in much slower track runs. The next time I got to the track, Ill make a few runs with the CAI and a few with it converted to a POP style (the filter will be bolted to the MAF).
