okay, i just got my y-pipe put on yesterday, but they didnt reset the battery. Should I disconnect the battery myself, or just reset the ECU. Also, last night i noticed my check engine light came on, and I also noticed that my left head light was out (left when looking in the winshield) so i went and reset my ECU anyways because the engine light was on, and i got for my trouble code Three Way Catalyst (left bank). does this mean my light is out or something else ? also did i kill 2 bird with one stone reseting my ECU or should i disconnect the battery too. please help, thanks alot

Okay, i called the guy who put in my y-pipe, and he said it was normal for the 0703 code because of putting on the Y-pipe and everything was okay, is that right ? BUT I got another message that i didnt see and it is decoded to Crankshaft Position sensor (position). So what do i do about this ?

Years ago, when computer-controlled engines were just coming into common use, disconnecting the battery was the correct way to reset the computer. Somehow, this obsolete information hangs on. People quote this "wisdom" to each other at work, in bars, in parking lots. If you try to pin down the guy's information source he may reply "Well, duh, that's how it worked on my '84 Stanza."

Don't bother with disconnecting the battery. It won't help. In fact, it is a nuisance because your clock and radio will suffer "amnesia".

If you have a Check Engine Light, that means something is wrong. It may very well be involved with the Y-pipe or a botched installation. One owner reported problems after having a Y-pipe installed. He said the installers had difficulty getting the Y-pipe to fit and that one of the Oxygen Sensors had been accidentally dropped. Oxygen Sensors are fragile and cannot withstand rough handling.

okay well like i said, i called the guy, and he said it was normal for me to get that because of the Y-pipe, and the way the air flows and stuff. I dont think he mishandled anything, this guy is the best exhaust guy in town, and everyone that i talked to referred me to him. But anyways, they did have a hard time getting it in, and had to bend it, but he said nothing was mishandled......
