need help fast or won't get to work tomorrow!

Hi.

Looks like my starter is going. There's this very strange noise right before it "attempts" to turn I guess and the car obviously doesn't start. After a few tries though it finally catches on and turns, hence making the car start.

In short, I need a new starter. I was looking at the how-to's and saw nothing about changing a starter. Any help would be appreciated. How hard is the install anyway? Is it a lot of work and does it take long?
Also, where would you guys recommend buying a starter?

Please give input if you know, thanks.

P.S. it's a 99 SE-L 5-spd

Starter is very simple, and even easier since you are a 5spd (more room to work with). I've done this twice. All you have to do it remove stock airbox and you'll have enough room to work with. The toughest part about the install is the two bolts that hold the starter to the block are sometimes very tight. You will need a breaker bar or something in order to get these loose. Other than that, its pretty simple.

There's a howto to help you if you run into trouble. I'll see if i can find it..

That's a link to fix the starter noise, but in there it will give you some info on how to take off the starter.

A member on this site recently posted his own writeup on regreasing the starter. He has some excellent pictures in there, makes it really easy to see what you need to do to take it off / put it back. Here's the thread:

holy shit, that gets my vote for the best write-up in the universe. Everything I need. Might not even end up replacing the starter. Simply WOW! You people kick ass.
