need feedback form bosch platinum users
just wanted some feedback from people who use bosch platinum on their max. I know most of you will say stick with ngk. but at .99 cents a piece for platinums it sure is tempting. so let's hear about your experience with bosch platinums. oh by the way do the bosch come pre-gapped?
I've used them for a number of years. When they come out at about 40,000 miles they always look good - Like they could have lasted twice as long. They seem to run fine in the car - But then again either a spark plug works or it dosen't. There's not much in between.

Personally I think they are fine for me. If I was out to run races I wouldn't attempt to do it in a four door sedan. Know what I'm saying?!
When I fist got my max, I put some in not knowing better. It ran fine for a while. But after i started getting on the car they began to crap out. The car would idle real rough and bog out. Kind of like if I had a bad coil.
Put in the NGK platinums and have done so ever since and the car has runs fine ever since.

plugs
I had a bosch plug not only detonate but fall apart... it lost the whole end of the plug when i took it out it lot the arm the electrode and the ceramic... all that was left was the metal piece that goes from the top to where it gives spark..
that was two weeks ago i had to buy a new engine because the metal parts cause one cylinder to have zero commpression!
so ya i did use them for two changes before but i had one bad one and it costed me an engine swap!
my feeling is they all work the same but quality control is what your paying for!
buyer be where!

You have a high performance engine with a high performance ignition system. Do not put cheap, crappy .99cent Bosch in there, you'd probably suffer higher fuel consumption + your car will hate you and run horribly just to p!ss you off
.
Joking about the last part, but seriuosly...don't do it. If you don't have the money right now, just buy some NGK BK5RE-11. They are just as good as platinum, just not as long-lasting.
My .02cents

bosch is crap i used NGK for now on out they had my car skipping like the tranny was going out. thanks to the tranny guy at Nissan he told me to change to NGK and it fixed my prob
final answer dont use Bosch
final answer dont use Bosch
I had an unmodded '96 SE walk away from my '96 GXE (I/Y/E) a couple days after I put +4's in. Next day, changed to NGK Plat's and we raced again and my GXE beat the SE easily. That was proof enough for me.
weird, that may have been my problem. The car would pull hard sometimes, and not so hard other times. I'll switch to the NGKs and see if it actually makes a difference. I was still getting 23mpg mixed.
I have bosch platinums in my car, about 10k miles on them and still running perfect. I put them in my brother's 97 max and it fouled them out after 6k miles. no idea how it happened
I still have the original NGK platinum plugs in place that came with the car when I took delivery on October 1, 1994. The car has 63K, mostly highway miles on it, and runs like a champ.
I had no problem with emissions testing last September and I have a Budget y-pipe.
I will replace the original plugs with NGK platinum plugs when the time comes.
My car has mostly highway miles on it, the fuel economy is as good as day 1 and I see no need to replace the plugs until I have to go through emissions testing again in the fall of 2007, at which time the plugs will have less than 75K on them.
I wonder how many sets of NGK copper plugs I would have gone through in 13years, certainly more than 2.

I use bosh Platinum 2's.
It's a personal preference. Its depends on your driving style wither you'll like traditional gapped plugs or plugs like these with a free Open electrode on the end. If your going to use bosh plat's at least use 2's or better.
If your unsure stick with the NGK Plats.
