A couple months ago we had to replace the starter because I was having slow starts and then the car finally died.

Everything has been fine.

Over the last couple of days, (and this has happened to me 2 times now) I go to start my car and nothing happens. Not a click, or noise, nada. My battery is good (because my wipers came on accidentally and my lights work). When I go to turn the key a second time it will start right up.

Is this a sign that maybe now my ignition is wearing out?

The electrical portion of your ignition switch is wearing out. It happened to me about a year ago. Cost about $200 to replace, maybe a little less, I dont remember.

 

Yep. That's it. Mine too. It's a frequent problem on Nissans. I had to have my Sentra ignition parts replaced. You can keep the same key, it is the part inside the column assembly that goes bad.

 

any ideas on how to replace this? Is it easy??

 

Sounds more like a bad ignition switch, under the steering wheel, $30 part or so, and easy to replace.

 

Now that sounds like an easy cheap thing to start with....if and when it starts happening more. Anything I need to know when getting the part? Any write up on exactly where this is located (picture of it??)

My 97 did the same thing 3 mos. ago. $30 part online and takes about 30 minutes to replace. Just remember to disable air bag when working on the steering column. good luck
