Bomz CAI ?'s

I'm thinking of doing some cheap things from ebay soon. If I get the Bomz CAI is the MAF gonna fit in the adaptor hole they provide? Should be ok right? And how much low end power is effected with the Bomz?

If you have an auto I would say it is a noticable amount (negative).

That's what I was afraid of. Maybe I'll wait till I get my y-pipe to put anything in. Thanks Fr33way

Hey Cdg2125, what are you doing tomorrow? Want to go to NYC with a million other Maximas?

The MAF adapter should fit fine. I thought CAI's are suppose to improve low-end power no regardless?

Yeah I'm not sure what kinda effects it will have. I don't want to lose that power cause I got no other mods yet. If I lose low end...I'm f'd haha. I dont know what to do!

Black sounds cool but I gotta work. How often do you go to the meets?

We have meets all the time. This NYC has been in the works for a long time and will have a turn out of around 150 Maximas. Go to www.CTMaximas.org for more meet information.

CAI's or HAI's alone do not do much for gains, 1-2hp, if you can feel that. The loud sound coming from it makes people think they are actually feeling more power....it's called placebo effect. Just use a K&N panel filter and call it a day.

I wanted to do the Bomz for a different look in the bay and a better look. I'm ok with no real gains. I'll do a k&n anyway. I just don't want to loose power!

Black, I've never been to a meet before...I'll try to look into CTMaximas.org. I don't have much to the car yet. Kinda feel out of place if I go haha.

No way, you would not feel out of place. Everyone had to start somewhere. It's not about the car, it's about creating friendships and having a fun time jokeing around and stuff. We have plenty of Maximas that are stock. I can name one coughcoughsunten1coughcoughcough...

See you around CTMaximas.org...

Hey thanks Black. I'm gonna check out CT.org now! Maybe I'll get to some meets this summer.

What are the thoughts on this Bomz idea?! Should I screw it and wait? I mean I'm ok with a small or no gain. I really want a better looking engine bay. I'm gonna do a cheap strut bar as well. Am I really gonna loose a visable amount of power?

I don't think you will lose THAT much power. It will more noticable if you're auto.

Well, then you will feel a little lag when you floor the gas, that's like the worst it could get.

I have a Bomz CAI, with a pop-charger filter. I have an auto, and I dont seem to notice this negative power everyone talks about. It sounds great, and overall definatly added power. Whats lost in the low-end is made up for in the high-end. why would u want more power low-end... so u can spin tires more? I ran this CAI and a y-pipe with my auto max, with jack and spare and everything in my car i ran a 15.5@89. So it's definatly not slowing me down.

No I jsut want the power off the start really. I'm in an area where I dont hit faster then 50 most of my driving. So I like having that quick power on the streets. So I guess that's mid and low power. I dont squeel tires. But I do get up to speed pretty quickly. Gets me where I want to go faster. That's about it.

Its not like you are losing 50hp... the sound itself will make it faster =P. By 50mph ur at like high RPMs in 2nd gear anyway... so thats where u need the power.

Yeah maybe I'm just beating it to death now...I think I'm just gonna do it. If it's that bad I'll take it off until my y-pipe and exhaust

keep the stock midpipe and put the bomz CAI piping, so u get the best of both worlds bottom end and top end. i had it like that and it used to pull pretty hard low end, defenetly noticible. i just had to change the the bomz midpipe cuz i had to put my nitrous nossle on it (couldnt do that wtih the stock midpipe box)

I have a Bomz CAI and i like it, It makes my car sound mean. As for HP increase, you wont get any really but you get a nice deep sound.

Sounds pretty sweet for 32 dollars do you still have to drill the hole in the fender for this one? Does the stock midpipe bolt-on well with the CAI piping?

Yea i think im gona order a bomz and then get a k&n filter on the end. You guys had to cut out a whole in ur engine bay tho right? I know that for this reason alone people dont put these intakes on there cars. I mean u could always tac in a new piece of metal when u want to sell ur car if the new owner doesnt want the intake. And as far as sucking in water, i think the cattman intake, which is the same style intake as the bomz, said no puddles more than 10inches which i dont plan on driving threw. I like the idea of leaving the stock mid-pipe. I have a 5 speed with this intake and a warpspeed y-pipe i hope to lose no low end power and let the vq scream.

The CAI pipe connects to the MAF adapter, and yes you have to cut a 3" hole near your inner fender.

are all the bomz cia's the same design (aka the place racing / cattman cia) cuz none of them mention cutting a whole, and some are 32, and others are cheaper

Yes the Bomz CAI's are the ones like PR and Cattman you DO have to cut a 3"hole.
