I removed the Top piece of the air box. There is also a bottom piece of the box from which looks like it is attached to all other piping and won't come out. Am i suppose to remove the bottom of the old air box too? Anyone have any pics of one or anything?
Thanks!

Every thing has to be removed .There are three bolts holding the bottom half down to the fender remove them but hang on to them you will need one to hold the supporting arm for the filter.
install the shorter bolts to the filter first then then put in the longer one in with the supporting bracket ,line the bracket up with the clostest hole put in the bolt save from the removal of the box& tighten . This should get you on your way

OK Thanks, one more thing...

The stillen intake appears to come with some sort of metal ring. My JWT just came with the K and N looking filter.
Well I am happy with the intake, sounds great!

I think that should have come with the JWT also

if you're talking about the velocity stack. That's what you bolt onto the MAF and attach the filter to. But I guess if it works, life is good!

what you r refering to is the velocity stack, which if you look through the end that attaches to the MAF on your POP is already attached. Stillen's and the JWT POP are basically the same other than the $$$$$$you spend.
You got the better deal.

Actually, you don't need to remove the bottom of the stock airbox.

But doesn't the bottom of the airbox restrict air flow?

From what I can tell, the bottom of the airbox helps to protect the intake from engine heat, as well as debris and water that might shoot up from below. If you want more airflow, get flexible tubing and make a cold-air intake that runs to the grill. The stock intake piping also delivers air to the intake.

But by protecting it from the engine heat hurts the flow and defeats the purpose of a "high flow intake".

not really. inward flow into the air filter is not hampered. the intake will not draw in air from behind at speeds above 30 mph

Well then it hurts your low end even more than it does regularly.

Huh? If you shield the intake from heat, it will provide cooler air to the engine, which will improve low-end power (all power, actually). Zero shielding from engine heat will create a loss of low-end power due to heat soak. That's why the CAI makes more power than a plain cone intake.

I know, thats why my CAI is in the mail. But I still am not sure about the bottom thing. I mean if you have like a chart or somethin that proves it i'll believe you, but otherwise I am not gonna argue.
