So my car just started making a weird sound recently. It kind of sounds like a scaled down sound of a roller coaster when it's climbing up with the chain. Like metal sort of. It happens mostly when I'm just switching into gear into 1st, and occasionally at other times. Is this somethign to worry about? Anyone have any idea what it is?

Thanks.
Dan

Might be time to change the clutch or flywheel?

does it do it at idle? It could be the timing chain tensioner.

start the car in the morning and pop the hood and listen .. if you hear that rattling noise, it's probably the timing chain sensor.

Change your oil and see if it goes away too.

If it's a tranny prob ... only guess is early stage of bad diff. bearings.

I think I have this problem, since mine sounds like a cavalier when i start it up in the morning. I wonder if this is something to worry about?

well, eventually it will get worse. I've found that it does this when my oil is old or low ...

If it's their only when you start your car and gets quieter after like..a minute. I would put my money on the Timing Chain Tensioner. That was my problem. And seems to be a very common one.
