ECU needed with OOvi

Almost positive i'm buying an OOvi and was wondering if an ecu was necessary to feel all posible gains like the MEvi. I've reasearched and found many posts taht claim that the power is seen all the way to 7300 with the chip. A friend of mine can program a megasquirt for my car but i'm not sure if that just adjust a/f and timing, as well as raised rev limiter. any help is much appreciated..thanx

Its up to you, the OEM rev limiter is set for 6500. If you wish to go higher you will need the ecu upgrade. With the upgrade you will also get the advanced timing and adjusted AF.
I dont think the megasquirt will help our cars. The maxima's ecu will not keep the settings.

An ECU is something you can purchace after the install. Yes it will help but no it is not neccesary. You will feel a significant gain midrange with the 00VI and top end even without the raised rev-limiter. An ECU from JWT is good for now, if you plan on not boosting. Its priced right and is 100% plug and play

Your best bet is to get the Emanage Ultimate. Once all the kinks are fixed you will be able to do almost everything JWT or any aftermarket piggy back can do. You also have to think about your intentions with a 00VI. Do you want this race or are you just looking for an extra mod. Modding is very expensive and has its pros and cons.
