Stock Springs & Illuminas??

Hey Guys,

I have a 95 SE...with stock SE springs with Tokico HP (blues) and stock SE wheels. The Tokico's are shot and need to be replaced. The Illumina's look enticing, but I'm not sure if I want to get lowering springs b/c I kinda like the stock look of my car. I know the handling advantages of lowering springs. I have a FSTB and RSB already which improved the handling a nice bit.

Will the Illumina's work with the stock SE springs? Anyone ever run this setup? I know getting the Illumina's with the Tokico springs doesn't cost that much more than just getting the struts alone. I'm not planning on getting bigger rims either. Any thoughts? Thanks!

How long have you had the HP's?

It's probably under warranty.

Illuminas will be fine with Stock SE springs.

Look at the Illuminas and the Tein H-Techs. I recently aquired a used set and like you i was orignially nervous about the ride but it is an excellent combo. Ride is very confident yet comfortable.

there should be no problems with Illuminas and stock springs. it should be an improved ride over stock. a bit less floaty yet still smooth.

Yeah, I've had the Tokico HP's for 3+ years and have probably put on 70,000 miles during that time.....with the the crap roads in Los Angeles, I'm not surprised they're giving out. I'm still trying to decide whether to go with the Illuminas w/ stock springs or with Illuminas w/ lowering springs.

Man, my Max's front end needs a ton of wor:

- New struts
- New axles / wheel bearings?
- New bushings

I might just hold off on the springs and save some cash.

I thought it was a bad idea to run stock springs on aftermarket?

Stock struts with aftermarket springs aren't such a good idea, but stock springs with aftermarket shocks should be just fine.

This is good news. Now I know how to split it up. Do new Illuminas with stock, then get new springs. Thanks for the info guys.

I google searched the Tokico HP's earlier today and I think the warranty is only good for a year. Anyone read what I read?

I'm currently running 2f/3rear. Remember I came from H&R's. The handling of the H&R was better than this setup. But this is better than stock. I haven't run the illumina's at the firmest setting with the stock springs so far.
Run 1f/2r for a floatly ride like a gm car!!

Does running stock springs on illuminas lower the car at all? Or is it only possible with the lowering springs? Kind of a stupid question but yeah...

The height stays the same. You need lowering springs to lower your max!!
