Best Spring/strut combo.

Best Spring/strut combo.
ok I know the Ksports are the best thing for the 4 gen but, if I want to spend a little less money what is the best spring/strut combo, but of course with the best comfort of a ride. I tried to find the thread that had the comparisons and I just couldn't find it. So if you have an opinion on this or know where I can find that thread, your more than welcome to drop some lines.....

on the Tokico Illuminas.
As for springs, it depends on what you want:
- Progress for the lowest drop with good comfort (and not smacking the bumpstops all the time)
- H&R or Tein H-Tech for the best comfort with good handling
- Tokico/Vogtland for the best balance of handling and comfort
- Eibach for the best handlingwith good comfort
And FYI, Ksports are not necessarily the best overall, so don't worry about it. It just depends on what you want. They are the best handling suspension kit for the money and don't make the ride too stiff, but if you want a combination of handling and comfort then don't sweat looking elsewhere.

d00df00d hit it on the head in oist #3. we cant really say whats the best for you. comming from ksports everything is going to feel comfy. the average spring is about $200 and struts are about $400. thats $600 right there, with no other parts. my vote would be h&r, eibach, or h techs paired with any adjustable strut.

You might want to take a look through here.
It all depends on what balance of looks/performance/comfort you want.
IIRC in the group deal, the Illuminas are not very much more than the AGXs and most people will tell you that suspension is one thing NOT to cheap out on. My advice for whatver setup you choose is to do it right the first time.

What are your goals?
Lowering your car for looks while retaining the comfiest ride possible?
Getting rid of the floaty, wallowy feeling?
A little extra handling with maximum ride comfort?
As much extra handling as possible with decent ride comfort?
Just replacing worn-out stock stuff with better stuff?
Also, what are the roads like where you usually drive?

I would have to say all of thee above, LOL but seriously out of all those I would have to say the first one. Cuz Im sure with the first one you still get better handling...

I;ve read alot of good things about H&R springs, not just here on the Org. They perform coomparably to Tokico springs, supposedly. Not to jack the thread, but I have a related question on suspension combos. I'm in need of replacing my struts soon and am considering a deal on the Tokico HP / Spring combo kit. Any feedback on it? I dont care about adjustable struts, i just get in the car and drive.

The Tokico HP kit is an okay option if you're really going cheap -- $450, and it includes the same springs as the Illumina kit but HP shocks in place of Illuminas. The problem is that the HPs are not going to be as comfy as the Illuminas and will likely not last as long. My advice to people has always been that if you only have $450 to spend on springs and shocks, wait and save up some more. If for whatever reason you can't wait, that kit is the only good option IMO.... but the Illumina kit is miles ahead.

i didnt really think it would be good for me to make another thread on struts/springs so i'll ask here, sorry. wut would u all recommend to someone like me who does not care wutsoever about improving the handling (i'm completely fine with stock handling and i dont really push the car to limits) but just wants to lessen the wheel gap? and im not interested in blowing money on suspension. in my shoes would u consider taking a chance just getting springs and hope that nothing happened to the struts given my gentle driving habits?

Your right on the money about what my priorities are. Actually a couple of people have told me about the Tokico Illumina kit, so Ill probably go with that, but I need to fins a deal, you know, so well see. Would changing the shock absorber be nessasary?

I seriously doubt H&R would develop a spring kit for our Max and have an uneven vehicle stance, and if so this is the first I've heard of this...
I think it's a isolated experience, anyone else on H&R's want to speak up?
