Strut and shock replacement

Well, my max is nearing 140K and I am starting to notice that the struts are starting to weaken. When I am driving on the interstate, my car will slide side to side if I go over and road that is not smooth. I am looking at having them replaced in a couple of months. The question I have is, when I replace them, would it cost me less to have the shocks replaced as well? I am looking at lowering my max by about 1-1.5 inches. Also, what would be the most cost effective parts to accomplish this seeing that I am a poor college student n all. Thanks for the help.

ur slide side to side problem might be control arm bushings, or balljoint.

Strutz

Hey,

A stock replacmet of struts here in fla is about 1k if you have it done. Parts are about 500 if you replace the mounts. I have never done this, and I have about 140K on my 97. I have heard you have to remove the rear deck to replace the rear struts. Anyone done this, and have advice? Is replacing the mounts necessary? I plan to go another 100k if possible.

thanks.kat.

damn 1k just to replace strust!!!!! thats impossible dude. where in FL are you im in Miami. and plus u can get the best adjustable shock out there which is probably illuminas AND get springs and still not be over 1k, and even get strut mounts and still not be over 1k. And what do you mean the rear deck? the rear strust are the easiest part of the installation, all you do is remove thet cover that covers the back part of the rear seats inside the trunk and u have access to the struts.
