Clutch Question
This is kind of a dumb question but I'll ask anyway. I drove my friends 2000 5spd Maxima. Compared to my clutch, his felt much lighter and smoother than mine. I don't think the 4th gen clutch is that hard to begin with but where I currently live, I get a lot of stop and go traffic and the clutch gets to me after a while. On the 2000 clutch, It was so light it almost felt like I could push the clutch in with one finger. Is it possible to make the 4th gen clutch feel like the 5th gen? Are there any parts you can swap in from a 5th gen that will make it lighter/smoother?
You can swap in the 5th gen clutch assembly, yes. Get the stock 5th gen clutch disc and pressure plate from www.allnissanparts.net.

mine is also hard i have 99 se.... it has 90000 miles on it(Stock)... i dont know what the f***** the deal is.. i am also looking to somehow to lightn up my padel.. and also my tranny has a notchy feeling to it... dont know why???? does anyone know why are clutch and tranny on 4 gen are like that.. let me know thank u
I don't think the 4th gen clutch is that hard. Now that I think about it, most of the other manual cars that I've driven have had a lighter clutch pedal, but you really don't want it too light. I think you lose some control and responsiveness with a light clutch.

well, if this helps, when I first bought my my car (second) the clutch was like a feather...and I was never able to get used to the feeling of the clutch (compared to me old one) till it started getting a little more heavier...not sure why it changed it's presure as time went on...b ut one thing I know... the clutch broke on my after one year (of me driving) and my experience with manulas was not a factor.
as stages increase the pedal feels heavier... stock 4th, stock 5th, stage 1, 2 ,3 ....(someone correct me on this If I'm wrong)
