60k miles and the freaking input shaft bearing is shot (5speed owners step in)

so my cars got 60k on it now and i replaced the clutch about 1000 miles ago. before the clutch went in i noticed a faint clicking coming from the tranny. now after my clutch change and a few more miles i have noticed the sound has gotten louder. now its LOUD. i mean it. it also clicks when the car in in reverse and also when in neutral with the clutch engaged. SO that pretty much says input shaft bearing.
so here are my questions.
has anyone else experienced this problem?
and should i find a new tranny (maybe lsd)
or should i just take mine out and have it rebuilt around here (anyone know ne good shops on or around long island new york?
Also i have heard that this is common on these trannies. is this true

Only common if you do not use the proper lubricant and drive like a a-hole. I have 150K miles on mine with no problems. Input shaft bearing does not click, it howls. I converted dozen Maximas here in Chicago to 5spd and the last one got a used tranny from some a-hole on the .org who claimed it to be a 5th gen 30K mile tranny. Dude who bought it didn't know it was a crusty looking, input shaft seal leaking 4th gen tranny. We put it in regardless and the input shaft bearing is completly shot. It howls like a supercharger. Since I have rebuild a few of these every one of these trannies failed because it was abused and had wrong fluid used/not changed. I have 3 trannies sitting here to rebuild in the next month.

Clicking noises are usually axle noises.

Bearing problems in these trannys are common, and the mileage that it happens depends on luck, how you drive, and take care of it. It has happened sometimes pretty early to some very careful drivers. But then again most problems happen to people who thrash it or think they know how to handle a manual tranny and really don't.

In the future, definitely more frequent gear oil changes, say 20-30k. But that probably won't help this one if the problem is in the tranny.

But since you've got a noise already the fresh oil will probably not solve the problem. Also, I would not count on it being an input shaft bearing - it could be almost anything, including the axles.

You didn't say if the car was rolling or stopped. Are you talking about neutral, clutch engaged, while not in motion?

The diff bearings and the input shaft bearings are probably both shot. The diff bearings tend to fail quietly, but sooner.
