H&Rs, Illuminas....Spring Isolators/KYB Mounts and Boots?
Well, I've got the H&Rs and just ordered the Tokico Illuminas. I'm about to order the KYB shock mounts (Front $34 and Rear $8) from Tire Rack. I'd also like to get some new "boots" for all the Illuminas and saw them depicted on Tire Rack's page showing the KYB mounts but can't find them. Seems that KYB doesn't make them for the 97 Max SE. Guess that means that I'll have to order them from the dealer...right? Unless someone else has a suggestion.
Also, went through the "stickies" and found a reference to a spring isolator. Seems that there are 2 each on the front springs and 1 each on the rear springs. Anyone with H&R's put these on? Are they necessary?
Thanks, you guys are always a life saver. Cheers

KYB does make them. Check the group deals and look for importrp's suspension group deal. The part numbers are SB103 and SB108. The spring isolators on your old suspension are probably in decent condition still. Mine were, and you can probably re use them.

You wount need new rear mounts. The Illuminas will come with all new bushings for the rear.
TIP: Make sure you clock the front strut assembly correctly. The word "OUT" stamped on top of the upper spring perch must face outwards or be in line with the struts lower mounting flange.
You don't need to compress the rear springs to get them off the old shocks. They are not under that much preload at all. You'll get a slight pop, thats it. Plus, you really wount need to compress the H&R's to get them on. Just have a buddy press down on top of the spring and catch the center nut. That goes for both the front and the rear.

Unless KYB has updated their mounts, I would stay away from them. OEM is a good way to go for the strut mounts.
I had some noise and the isolators helped. This was for the front springs.

If your car has high mileage I would do it. You could also push down on the car with the hood open and check the mounts from the top to see if there is any play between the mount and the strut. I did not replace mine at the time, and a week later I had to put a new one in, so I just did both at that time. My car had 100k when I did my swap.
