Coolant flushing question

I really need to flush my coolant system out, but i have heard that if u drain this completely that air will get into the system and u have to drain the engine block also.. I have drained many rads. before and never done this... however it was on other vehicles.. Can i just drain 3/4 of the rad and fill it up with a premix? I know that it won't flush the sediments out, but i need to make quick work of this.. Not something i normally do.. The drain bolt is behind the engine facing the firewall and is extremely hard to get to..

Has anyone ever completely drained the rad. without loosening this bolt and flushing the block?

www.motorvate.ca has instructions and he doesn't seem to have a problem with just draining and filling the radiator w/o draining the block.

Yep you can drain just the radiator and fill it back up. The premix stuff is fast and convenient.

Just do it again when you have a little more time and by this point you'll have almost all the old stuff cleaned out. That's how I do it - more regular 'partial' flushes.

I drained just the radiator, put a bottle of radiator flush in and filled with water. I ran the car with the heat turned all the way up and blasted it on high, and let run for about 20 min. Drained it then ran the hose on with the car running and let it flush. Put the drain plug in and filled with 50/50 coolant.

My last drain was a partial and there were no problems with air at all.

See I personally will never put tap water into any of my cars. It's usually more loaded with stuff than the old coolant. Hence the drain and replace method.

just boil that tap water, and it should be fine. even though distilled is technically the steam of the boiled tap.
