Strut Bar

Hey guys,
I was looking around for a strut bar for my 97, and i found one on ebay for $27. Are there different quality strut bars (because they are all just metal poles). Shouldn't any kind of strut bar increase turning stability? any responses welcome.

If all you want is a little ornament in your engine bay that actually makes some difference, then get the eBay one.

If you're serious about getting something that works, get one from Otto Racing, Alutec, or Stillen.

If its made in aluminum alloy, you'll be fine, thats what all the good ones are made of.

The alutec is a fine piece, but I hope you didn't pay the 120 bucks that www.paradox-systems.com wants for it.

$85 shipped. There was a pretty good sale several months back.

I must say, I do wish it had the ability to adjust preload, like most other bars do. But yes, I'm very satisfied with it.

I didn't think any strut bars had clearance issues.

The solid aluminum adjustable ones off eBay are nice. There is a huge decrease in body roll and they feel great IMO.

mine pushes down on my power steering quite a bit and I really don't think it will fit over my 98's power steering because it is even taller

they are al the damn same. from a $15 to a $60 one they will work teh same and you will not be able to tell a differance. The stillen you light cause it it much stuffer and thicker, but it will not make that much of a differance. Just get the cheapest ebay one you can find in the style you want. i have a 45mm cause i thnk it looks better than just the round pole, but it does not really matter.

you will feel it on your stock suspension quiet a bit, butif you are dropped you will nto notice it that much.

i agree, it doesnt ******* matter if you spend a lot or a little, they are all the same. i got one from ebay for like 35 shipped, and ive noticed a pretty big difference on my stock suspension. less body roll, stiffer, better cornering at high speeds. i like it,and it looks cool.

The Alutec is much stiffer and thicker than the other bars as well, and the Otto is a direct ripoff of the Stillen bar. So, if the Stillen bar makes a difference over the cheapo ones, then by your criteria, so will the others.

You got it backwards. Lower means the suspension is stiffer (hopefully), and stiffer suspension means greater stresses on the chassis. That means chassis stiffening will be more noticeable when you're lowered. It may not make as much of a difference in cornering feel at low speeds, but you will see more of an improvement in tighter/higher speed cornering and ride quality on bumpy roads than you would on stock suspension.
