I am new to the whole modifying scene and need some help. If I buy a Y-pipe do I need to get a new muffler? Where can I find a ECU chip? Where can I find lowering springs for about a 2" drop? Will 19" wheels fit? Where can I find a lightened flywheel? Where can I find a lightened under drive pulley? Any answers to these questions will be VERY appreciated.

Muffler isn't required if u get ypipe.

Sprints drop the car 2"

19's will fit

ECU Chip is onyl cool on 95 and 96 and GeForce Makes it. Flywheel helps, Stillen and Unorthodox have a piece.

Thanks!

I guess I should have described my car - its a 1995 GXE auto. I am also looking for a lightened underdrive pulley. If anyone knows where I can get one please let me know.

hi

unorthodox also has a udp, and I may be wrong, but I don't think you can do an aftermarket flywheel on an auto (cuz auto doesn't use a flywheel!)

am I wrong guys?

Thanks for the unorthodox input, I too may be wrong but how is it possible for an auto not to have a flywheel?

Long time ago when I had my 86 Sentra serviced, the shop told me that in an auto the similar thing to the flywheel is called flexplate (not sure if only Nissan calls it that way). If I still remember right, it is the plate with teeth around its perimeter to let starter grab it. I had it replaced with a genuine Nissan part about $80 that time because about one third of it were worn badly.
That's all I can recall now. Sorry if I'm completely wrong, or the info doesn't help.

No. It only replaces the Y-pipe. You dont need anything else.

Where can I find a ECU chip?
G-Force makes an ECU. Its for the 95/96 maximas. You can use it in a 97, but you have to use a 96 ECU, and change the O2 sensors to 96 O2 sensors. Talk to Cheston (Chebosto). He usually takes care of the G-Force Group Deals.

Where can I find lowering springs for about a 2" drop?
Eibach, Sprint, H&R are the big names who make springs for the Maxima. Anyone who carries these, including Stillen, will have them.

Will 19" wheels fit?
Yes.

Where can I find a lightened flywheel?
Stillen makes a flywheel. I've heard its a good piece. I think some other companies make the Flywheel, but I dont remember who.

Where can I find a lightened under drive pulley?
Unorthodox Racing makes one. You can get it from Stillen or anyone who carries it.

Thank you screaminfast

Thanks for all the info! I have a hunch that auto max's have a torque converter instead of a flywheel. This is what a friend told me(but his knowledge of cars is even smaller than my limited amount). If this is true is there a mod out there that will help quicken up my rpm cycle?

Yes, get a higher stall torque converter, and a Valve Body upgrade. You'll be very happy with those.

Who makes them & where can I find some?

First off, Thanks for the info. As I said above my car knowledge isnt vast - especially when it comes to after market mods and engines, I'm totally lost. Do either of you, or anyone else, know where I might be able to purchase a higher stall touque converter, a valve body upgrade and a transmission cooler? Any rough cost estimates for these parts?
