help: rpm does not go past 2k...
Hi, was just driving my maxima today, and the rpm limits at 2k, similar to a rev limiter at the redline. This happens regardless of what gear its it; neutral, park, etcl., as soon as the rpm meter gets to 2k, it cuts back. I replaced my old cone air filter with another brand about a week ago. I removed the filter and it does the same thing. Any suggestions?

the MAF could have gotten really dirty somehow when you changed the filter. You can sometimes rinse them out with alcohol. Sometimes Nissan ECU's will throw the car into "safe mode" and cut the RPM's way back...but usually you get a CEL with it.
no CEL lights, the rpm just stutters right at 2k, won't go any higher. Just for sh*ts, I may try to reset the ecu. Anyone have the steps to do that, I don't remember, it was a while ago the last time i did that. I apparently don't have permission to use the search function. anyone know why?
Mine did that with a faulty apexi vafc hooked up to it. Got the CEL though. Strangely the symptoms went away when maf was installed normal, but cel stayed for a couple weeks then went away on its own.

My friend also had the same problem with his car after installing an intake. His CEL was reading the MAF. I told him to a screw driver to reset the codes and since then his car runs fine. No MAF code.
I unplugged my MAF sensor today and drove it by accident today. I had the exact problem that you described. The car shuddered and the rpms would not go past 2-3k. The only difference was that mine thru a cel code when i had it checked at autozone. Hope that helps.
