CA to Fed Spec Exhaust manifold conversion

I know this topic has been discussed in general terms, and I do have most of the relative information to complete to conversion, however, I have specific questions about wiring of the two heated O2 sensors behind the main cat. The two O2 sensors must be moved from the forward cat to behind the main cat which will require the addition of wire (since the distance is several feet away from the harness location. My question for you wiring experts out there is, do I need to use a special guage of wire and are there any concerns for the impedence of the signal over the additional distance? The ECU may not be that sensitive, but I wanted to make sure I cover the bases before taking on this conversion. Also, if anyone has done this conversion, I'd appreciate some comments about what if any problems came up during the conversion.

Thanks for the input.

just get the o2 simulator! it's $20, and you're done. then you can run your car completely cat less without a SEL.

So what is the O2 simulation and where do I find one?

i got mine from cattman, but there's more than one to choose from. there like $20. easier than welding in 2 o2 bungs on your b-pipe and routing all that o2 sensor wiring.

i don't have this simulator, but i have seen it installed on a 5th gen.

Thanks for all the valuable info. So for clarity sake, do I need the single or double simulator. I would think double, since I have two O2 sensors on the CA spec to simulate. Let me know if I'm wrong here.

you're absolutely correct, you need the double. just remebr to leave your secondaries plugged in the harness, otherwise the o2 heaters will cause a code (unless you do the resistor mode, but i don't know anything about that).

So, the two primary O2 sensors get plugged into the Y pipe and the other two heated O2 sensors get simulated? That's what's confusing to me.

The downstream O2's get simulated.. that's all.. not that confusing..

all the o2 have a heater blanket. the simulator only simulates the o2 signal, not the heater blanket signal. once you wire in the simulator the o2 signal is dealt with. so if you disconnect the o2 sensor from the harness the ecm will recieve a signal from the simulator that the o2 is there, but no heater blanket which will throw a code. so you'll have to either stow the secondaries somewhere in the engine compartment while leaving them connected to the harness or wire in a resistor to the heater blanket wires to simulate the heater blanket signal. make sense???

I'll figure it out. First things first....I need to install the Fed spec manifold, Y pipe, and then worry about simulating the O2 sensors.

Thanks for the info.
