my alarm keeps going off

does anyone know why my car alarm may be continuing to go off? it keeps going off at strange hours and when i go outside to turn it off no one has touched it. today it went off while i was in first period and i had to run out off class to go turn it off. i ended up just disconnecting the battery so it wouldnt go off again. i have a really bad battery and was wondering if that might be something to do with it but i dont really know about alarms so if anyone has any comments they would be greatly appreciated. thank you

this happened to me in my previous vehicle. it turned out to be the switch in my engine bay that triggers the alarm wasnt making contact with the hood when it closes which meant my alarm would arm...but eventually go off whenever it wanted to.

check all the switches/sensors. its a start. hope u understand all da crap i just tried to say.

I pulled the fuse and called it a day, forget that searching for sensors garbage, just get you a good aftermarket. I got tired of that stupid horn going off when it wanted. Every true car theif knows how to get past factory alarm anyway.

Mine did the same thing. TSB on SE's (with spoiler) says it was the trunk lid switch. Water leaks and shorts out switch. What I did was open the trunk, remove the cover to expose the switch and I unplugged it. Haven't had a false alarm since. Remember, when you remove the alarm fuse, your horn doesn't work. At least mine didn't. Never got around to replacing the switch either. Hope this helps

SERVICE INFORMATION
If an applied 1995-98 Maxima (with spoiler) has intermittent false alarms from the security system, the cause may be corrosion on the trunk lid lock assembly. If water leaks through the groove in the spoiler spacer and drips onto the trunk lid lock assembly, the switch on the lock assembly could become corroded and cause intermittent short circuits sending a false "trunk open" signal to the body control module (BCM). Because the BCM would think the trunk is open, the alarm would sound.
Use the following procedure to diagnose and repair this incident.
SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Open the trunk. Remove the inner trunk lid finisher and plastic lock assembly cover
2. Unbolt the trunk lid lock assembly from the trunk lid. Leave the wires connected.
3. Push the lock mechanism to simulate a closed trunk
4. Make sure all doors are closed. Push the LOCK button on the remote transmitter to arm the system.
5. Look for the red LED security system light on the dash to verify the system is armed. The LED should blink once every 2.4 seconds.
6. Tap the lock assembly switch and/or wiggle the wires to the switch.
7. If the alarm is activated, replace the trunk lid lock assembly.
8. Replace the trunk spoiler spacers with the countermeasure spacers (see Figure 3). Replace the trunk spoiler spacers even if you cannot see corrosion on the lock assembly switch.
9. Tighten the spoiler retaining nuts to 0.44-0.60 kg-m (3.18-4.34 ft-lb).

my spoiler is actualkly really loose on the passenger side, could this be where the water may have leacked in or something? so should i get some sort of spacer in there to close the gap?

You can use any type of sealant Inside the trunk to resolve the leaking with the spoiler. Although you should try to tighten the nut first. Then get an aftermarket alarm if having one is a need for you.
