Hard to Start

The past two days I've noticed that my 97 max hasn't been starting up on the first crank like it always has. Today it got really bad I had to try it like 5 times, then tonight when it got a little colder it took like 15 tries. The trouble code 01:01 came on thats Camshaft Position Sensor. Any thoughs on whats going on and can the Camshaft Position Sensor affect starting?

That sensor does affect your starting, see if it's dirty and try to clean it to see if that helps, if anything replace it.
