Can I put cone filter on air intake?

I have a K&N cone filter from a short ram intake on my old car, can i just take off the plastic box that houses the air filter in my max and just attach the K&N filter in its place or are there more parts that i would need?

you will also need a mass airflow sensor plate then you'll be good to go .

Ebay or Cattman, if you have any other performance stores around, they should carry it. Make sure that the air filter fits a 3" tube.

Here's one for $12 with an extra air filter.

You can do it without buying anything else, that's what I did, but I also had a rubber connector from the SRI (from a Camry, originally).

I took the gold ring out of the stock upper airbox that the MAF bolts on to, put one end of the rubber adapter over it and used a hose clamp to hold it on, bolted the assembly to the MAF, then just slipped the cone filter inside the adapter with another hose clamp to keep that in place.

Ghetto (see sig, heh) but it works. No sound change at all between hacked stock and the ghetto cone filter conversion, at least not in my case. Thinking about epoxying up the holes in my hacked airbox and putting it all back to stock, but I may have damaged the upper box too much to do that by ripping out that gold ring...we'll see.

It was actually this kit here - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-02...56780854QQrdZ1 , the rubber adapter being that blue rubber piece shown on the end of the SRI pipe.
