ECT and KS problems due to harness
ECT and KS problems due to harness
Finally, my problems with the ECT sensor and the KS, too, came down to bad wiring. Both have been fixed, and the wife just took it on a trip of 300 miles each way. No CEL and the KS code hasn't returned either. The car did over 300 miles on a tank, and that was cruising at 80 - 90, so I should think the fuel consumption must be about as good as it gets.
She did have a blowout, one of the rear tyres fortunately, at 80+, but didn't have too much trouble keeping it in a straight line. The tyre was completely shredded with all the reinforcing wires sticking out in all directions.
Remember, this was the car with bad O2 sensors. Those sensors have done nearly 1000 miles since they were *cleaned* - not replaced - which leads me to believe that a lot of org members could save money by cleaning them rather than replacing them. Unless of course you have a wad of cash burning a hole in your pocket.

Of course, this was a Mexican job! I suppose 'over there' it would be 'pick a number . . . multiply it by 10 . . . add your age . . . add $100 Federal environmental surcharge for safely disposing of copper wire and rubber tape . . .'
